Microsoft MSN Services Run on PHP?
Yello, the
classifieds service of Yello Media, launch its
local services in Vietnam
recently. Visitors can post and read free classifieds with little data
available and no Vietnamese version yet. Yello Media just announced new
general manager for Vietnam. You can find his information on Yahoo360, not LinkedIn or Facebook. On the top
of Yello homepage I see "powered by msn" and Yello is
developed with PHP, not Microsoft's .NET. Of course Microsoft can buy or
invest into other businesses, but those "powered by msn"
services are run on PHP, Rails or Java, how Microsoft would protect its
brand image?

Microsoft celebrates Independence Day with MSN Vietnam Portal
Microsoft Online Services Group Southeast Asia today announced teaming up with local partners to launch MSN services in Vietnamese early 2008. National broadcaster VTV will provide general news sources while Laodong Newspapers in charge of business and finance news. Initial plan is to launc h the portal in second quarter of 2007 but delayed till 2008 for some reasons. The collaboration made me think of old media giants partnership against Google's YouTube. After three months, only MySpace in the alliance moved with M ySpaceTV, a pure play battle. Since Yahoo Vietnam had started local services with strong base of messenger and Yahoo360 users, how MSN Vietnam get a piece of the pie.
