I think it's too early for Clip.vn to start monetizing its customer
equity yet. Its focus now seem to be expanding user base, which might be
right at the moment. Question is how long can they burn VC's money
before pay day arrives. With IDG's money, i think they can live well and
kicking for at least 3 years, which is enough before their revenue start
to show up.
really, youtube now have not launched their business on advertising yet.
Clip.vn has tested ads on video player. I think it's a good choice for
them now, and with what i have heard from sonny, i think Clip.vn has a
light future.
The game is not for Clip.vn only, when others come in they can get large
user base more quickly than Clip.vn. It can live less than 2 years with
IDG’s money.
Remember that Clip.vn has first mover's advantage. I learnt from my
sources that the committed amount from IDGVV for Clip.vn is quite
handsome, compared with their other deals recently. If this number is
right, I think Clip.vn has really good position despite the fact that
other newcomers is jumping into video SNS. Anyway, I agree with you that
this game is not for Clip.vn, and a bunch of other competitors are
honing their beta version. Frankly, Clip.vn has a lot weaknesses.
Remember Bach Minh Son's loud words when annoucing his deal with IDGVV?
Let's see if they will be come a reality while await for more exciting
battles in the next few months.
