Well, it looks to me that Zing is the entertainment hub (photo, video,
music, chat, social networking, ent.news) while Vnexpress is
news-focused. Two distinct models with separate user segments. And yeah,

(just to look for my new post this morning displayed in SERPs or not).
I think the 2 giants compete Alexa ranks with each other just to confirm
their brandname, rather than anything else, to the majority of Alexa's
admirers (in VN). As far as I know, they sell banners by providing
Google Analytics' fitures. 
I heard that marketers in Vietnam depends on no other stuff besides the
free Alexa as their "ruler" (yeah, they just know ruler, he he
he). That's why websites who wants to sell more banners must try to
become "longer" according to that "ruler".
Firstly, in Snapshot one can compare only three sites. Secondly, sites
with less that 10000 uniques are excluded and thirdly, this is available
only for the US audience. These three limitations still keep Google the
favorite followed by
