Jason, the article is ages ago. My rules of thumb is most of reporters
are as dumb as pigs when come to the fields they don't know about. Pick
Monava (now seems dead), it took google's results and displayed in
different format, and successfully fooled people to think these guys can
make Vnese Google. Well, someone need to have real LEADERSHIP and TECH
SKILLs to be the 1st Vnese tech billionare (have we got millionare yet ?
Does Mr T.G.Binh earn from tech or from selling things ?). I don't see
these qualities in any company.
I think Socbay.com would be the good one. They really own the
technology, although they seem to be slow in product development. Their
leaders are ambitious and talented in both business and technology.
That's the true VNese technology, I think.
I'm not so sure about the investment amount IDG put in VinaGame but i'm
sure that they took less than 20% in the company. They seem to inflate
at least 3-4 times to reach the number of $1 million..
How well Vinagame is really doing? I've heard the business is not too
great, only the sword game has ok amount of users.
I can tell you that VinaGame did not earn more than 30 mil in 2007 and
profit is less than a third of that. They were very lucky when idiot FPT
destroyed the popularity of MU but taking the biz to the next level
requires more than luck to be successful.
