Thank you Jason for the article. The problem of many startups in Vietnam
is not having a clear business model. People still think Web 2.0 exists
in Vietnam like it does in Silicon Valley which, in turn, set up a
website and wait to have some rich fools to buy it. If ads are what they
have, it's even not worth considered. I could see some movement in the
advertising space like vietad.vn, but I predict that more than 5 years
is what it takes to cross the border of chasm.
Probably going back to Web 1.0 and imitating successfully proven
business models are the way to go now. Remember chodientu and vatgia ?
Please write more, I access your blog and techcrunch everyday.
I think you're right, I take a look at Truongxua.vn and I think it's a
site created by students by hobby.
A bit curious by the overkill opening ceremony of this website. Did a
quick search and find out its real daddy is GSO !!! Smell like a big
scam already
they said they have 10 million USD to spend. But from the look of the
site it's child play. I don't think Vietnamese understand the benefit
of web 2.0 and personal promotion and social marketing. Only a few of
us out there knows what we're doing.
